FOR THE MONTH OF MAY, LET'S TALK ABOUT MY FAVORITE: CUSTOMER SERVICE
The Wab says:
Customer service is the provision of service to customers before, during and after a purchase. (I like this one)
ACA GROUP say: (my personal favorite)
Excellent customer service (is) the ability of an organization to constantly and consistently exceed the customer's expectation.
Our we giving this kind of service? If not why not? After all customers pay your salary.
Talk to me let me know how you feel about customer service. Why is it important and why would it not be important to you.

  1. Customer service is another marketing tool. If you can sell yourself and your knowlegable about what you're selling, you can sell your product...

    Ways to do this:
It is a pretty well known fact that people like to feel two ways when dealing with others. They like to feel important and they like to feel appreciated. Its nothing like going into a store, or any type of business for that matter, where the associate/owner/manager remembers your name. It makes a person feel IMPORTANT. Also, remembering little details about your customer can knock down a lot of defensive walls when your selling a product. For example, remembering that your custommer has children and asking your customer,"how are the kids?". Just the fact that you remembered that they have kids makes them feel like an appreciated and valued customer!

Now, as far as if employees are giving this type of service I really don't think that most are... Especially young folks who are working a job that they don't like, just to get paid. And I would personally like to blame this on the employer, not the employee.

Employee's fail to realize that it is not about what kind of job you work, or how much you get paid. It is ALL about personal growth and character. The question should be, "How can the responsibilities of this one job build character and help develop personal traits that can be benenficial to me when I do land that job that I absolutely LOVE?"

In todays society with this new generation emerging, mostly everybody's mindset is "MONEY MONEY MONEY, NOW NOW NOW". Due to bills and other circumstances, money becomes the number one priority and pushes personal development through the back door. Employers should take note of this and hire accordingly. I believe it would also be beneficial to any company for employers to implement personal development requirement classes for new employees... Yes it would be costly, but it would eventually decrease the new employee turn-over ratio and help build a family environment within organizations. This would eventually turn into a beautiful workplace for employees witch will have a drastic effect on customer service... Excited and happy employees = Excited and happy customers!

I enjoy reading your blogs Ms. Temple... Keep them coming!
